Yesterday marks the official start of the baseball season for Red Sox fans. Fans gathered outside of Fenway to send off the moving vans that carries the ballclub’s equipment to Fort Meyers, FL for spring training.
I wonder, do the Royals have fans come out to send off their truck? Nah, who am I kidding. Is it a little crazy that the Red Sox do? You bet ya, but that’s what make up Red Sox nation.
Wally the Green Monster directs traffic on Truck Day
Red Sox fans joined the team’s mascot, Wally the Green Monster (pictured, right), as well as legend Johnny Pesky to bid a safe voyage to the moving truck that has transported the team’s spring training gear from Fenway Park to Fort Myers, Fla. since 1998.
Here are some Sox spring training dates that start five days from now:
2.12 — Reporting day for Red Sox pitchers and catchers
2.14 — First workout for Red Sox pitchers and catchers
2.16 — Reporting day for Red Sox positional players
2.18 — First Red Sox full-squad workout
2.25 — Red Sox spring training games begin
